Nestled in the heart of Matunga — often lovingly called "Little South India" of Mumbai — The South Indian Bhajana Samaj stands as a magnificent testament to nearly a century of unwavering devotion and cultural preservation.
Founded in May 1927 as a humble gathering for devotional singing (bhajana), this sacred institution has blossomed into one of Mumbai's most revered temples. Its stunning Rajagopuram — the towering Dravidian entrance adorned with vibrant, intricately carved sculptures of Hindu deities — rises as a beacon of Tamil spiritual heritage in the metropolis.

Today, the Samaj houses magnificent shrines to Sri Sita Ramachandra, Sri Raja Rajeshwari Ambal, Sri Maha Ganapathy, Sri Anjaneya, and the Navagraha, drawing thousands of devotees seeking solace, blessings, and a taste of authentic South Indian temple worship.

Sri Sita Ramachandra

The presiding deity — Lord Rama with Sita Devi, Lakshmana, and Hanuman. The first idol was a Tanjore portrait, later replaced with sacred stone murtis encased in gold.
Sri Raja Rajeshwari Ambal

The Divine Mother — Goddess Rajarajeshwari (Lalita Tripurasundari), adorned with a diamond-studded gold crown lovingly donated by devoted bhaktas.
